Our Philosophy

Strength Training is the platform from which athletic performance is produced. Using proven strength training methods, this side of training leads to not only stronger athletes but humans that are more robust withstanding the grueling schedule of sport.

Nutrition is a major part to the formula of high-performance. Using an evidence-based approach and sound principles, we employ education and applied techniques to ensure that all elements of an athletes diet and lifestyle are geared towards achieving their high-performance goals. This ensures our athletes are putting their highest effort forth daily.

Scientific Performance Principles

Following scientific principles, our programs are built to fit the needs of the athlete. In this high-performance world.

Speed Training is imperative to be successful at the highest levels. High velocity training blends with our strength work to be displayed in sport.

Our Process

During your complimentary consultation you’ll interact with us either in person (if you live locally) or on zoom (if you live further away or feel safer doing so) in order for us to get an idea of what your long- and short-term goals are. If you are a programming client, we need to know what kind of fitness equipment and facilities you have access to so that your plan doesn’t include exercises you can’t perform due to needing specialty equipment. We will also ask basic lifestyle questions related to your current fitness level, the kind of time you have available to fit in your workouts, and what kinds of exercise activites you find appealing so that your program reflects physical activity you want to and are capable

During your consultation, we will be assessing your movement patterns, history of injuries, and overall fitness level. We would never give you an exercise that was dangerous or painful to complete, so it is important to know where you are currently at. For the movement assessment, we will ask you to hold a series of positions and perform a series of movements that show your range of motion limitations, stability and control levels, and experience performing specifics movements related to exercises like a squat, hip hinge or sprint mechanics.

Grind Time

Once you have decided to sign up with us, you’ll receive your personalized 4-week program. It will contain exercises that are in line with your current capabilities and fitness level that you can perform with the equipment you have access to. You’ll stay in touch with us via social media, text, or email throughout the four weeks to check in and give/get feedback on your current program. We’d like to see 1 video per workout session of an exercise you feel like you did really well on, or one that you feel like you need coaching on. Once the 4-week program is up, you’ll have an hour long session (either in person or via zoom) to check in with your progress and introduce you to any new exercises or movements that you’ll encounter on your next 4-week program.

Coach Andrew Burdick

I am the founder and owner of AB Sports Performance. I started this company for two reasons. First of all, I wanted to give back to the community I was raised in. Secondly, this is a true passion of mine. Within my community I’ve seen loads of talent and was fortunate enough to play with many of them. The only thing that we never had was great guidance through training to perform at a higher level, which is what I do today to allow student athletes to become distinguished and reach peak performance.‍

Born and raised in the Southshore area, I graduated from Lennard High in 2009 and went onto attend at Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa. In college, I played two collegiate sports (football/baseball) as I pursued a BA degree in Kinesiology. After graduating, I continued my education and physical preparation passion through Concordia University Chicago, finishing my MS in Sports Nutrition. Concurrently I worked at the University of Iowa on the Olympic side of strength and conditioning. Over my 10 years of experience I have been fortunate enough to have coached athletes of all levels including Olympic sprinters, professional baseball players as well as final four contenders in girls high school basketball. I have also been a sports coach among cross country teams and the girls’ basketball team at BDCHS where I teach Weight Training and Biology, as well as Health and Sex Ed through Hillsborough Community College.‍

I hold a certification through the NSCA as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), both the Level 1 and 2 Functional Movement Screening certification from the Functional Movement Systems (FMS). I am also a Certified Sports Nutritionist (CISSN) with certification from the International Society of Sports Nutrition (ISSN). I am also CPR certified by the American Heart Association.
