What's up guys, I'm Andrew.

I am the founder and owner of AB Sports Performance. I started this company for two reasons. First of all, I wanted to give back to the community I was raised in. Secondly, this is a spirited passion of mine. Within my community I’ve seen loads of talent and was fortunate enough to play with many of them.  One thing we lacked was a fruitful performance training environment. This is where I can see my value to this community; this environment not only builds physical strength but allows us to develop focus, consistency along with growth and discovery.

Born and raised in the Southshore area, I graduated from Lennard High in 2009 and went onto attend at Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa. In college, I played two collegiate sports (football/baseball) as I pursued a BA degree in Kinesiology. After graduating, I continued my education and physical preparation passion through Concordia University Chicago, finishing my MS in Sports Nutrition. Concurrently I worked at the University of Iowa on the Olympic side of strength and conditioning. Over my 10 years of experience I have been fortunate enough to have coached athletes of all levels including Olympic sprinters, professional baseball players as well as final four contenders in girls high school basketball.

I hold a certification through the NSCA as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), both the Level 1 and 2 Functional Movement Screening certification from the Functional Movement Systems (FMS). I am also a Certified Sports Nutritionist (CISSN) with certification from the International Society of Sports Nutrition (ISSN). I am also CPR certified by the American Heart Association.

Professional Philosophies

INTEGRITY
Represent the business, as well as myself. Any reflection of my conduct is also a reflection on the program as well as the culture.

POSITIVE INFLUENCE ON THE ATHLETES
Leading by example. Our athletes thrive with positive influences, we must connect in a positive manner so we can influence our athletes accordingly.

LOYALTY TO THE PROGRAM
To be completely committed to the program and must maintain unwavering support of the program.

HARD WORK & DEDICATION
Must model the hard work and dedication to the program that we demand from the athletes we work with.

GROW AND DEVELOP AS A COACH
A head coach is only as good as his assistants. Developing an appreciation for different points of views and techniques to teach the athletes will benefit everybody involved with the program.

Coaching Philosophies

  • Ultimately, creating a more durable and efficient human that can function at the highest possible level through the rigors of life.
  • Providing and improving the necessary training stimulus to consistently challenge and enhance the individual’s physical qualities.
  • A collaborative team effort. The relationship between the coach and trainee must integrate communication to build the best training menu.
  • Our training/programming process is a holistic approach, balancing work capacity and intensity. We blend ground based compound movements with single joint actions to help build effective training.
